Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra to Give Free Concert

New Orleans party music, secular gospel, soul, R&B and roots rock will be combined into a feel-good gumbo of music at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on Sunday, November 13th at 2:00 p.m. when Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra take the stage. As a part of the Event Gallery’s World Stage Series, BroJo is more than just a band; a feast for the eyes and ears, the group will be dressed in its finest whites, dancing parasols and throwing out tons of Mardi Gras beads.

Those that arrive early can make a day of it by participating in a New Orleans-themed art activity; a great opportunity for families, scout troops, or community groups. Art activities begin at 12:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration, especially for groups, is strongly encouraged. For special assistance in registering your group, please contact Jodi Kane at jkane@bethelwoodscenter.org or at 845.295.2521.

The World Stage Series explores and pays tribute to different cultures and traditions through music, dance and other cultural and performing arts in order to promote an appreciation and respect for all cultures.

The final World Stage Series will be the Delaware Valley Opera, presenting the children’s opera, Hansel and Gretel on Saturday, December 10th at 2:00 p.m. This holiday classic is a perfect family event and will include audience participation and a Q&A session. Come early and help decorate the set by creating cardboard gingerbread men for the witch’s house.

Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra recently released their second full-length effort, Live at Brooklyn Bowl, which a New Orleans-based e-zine, Luna Kafe, described as “Brother Josephus and his band follow an impressive debut of ‘secular gospel’ with a blistering live set.” This highly anticipated live album followed the group’s debut self-titled studio release, which included two finalist selections in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Competition (“I Won’t Be That Man” – R&B category & “Child Shall Lead” – Gospel category).

The band began performing in late 2007 and has gathered quite a following due to their dynamic live shows, which prompted Ryan Snyder from YES! Weekly to exclaim BroJo’s “funky, free-wheeling unit looks and sounds as if they just stepped off a Big Easy 2nd line from heaven.” Love Revivals have thrilled audiences from New Orleans to New England, including the Discover Jazz Festival in Burlington (VT), the Clearwater Festival in Westchester, various New Orleans venues during JazzFest, the main stage at Crawfish Fest (NJ), and at NYC’s South Street Seaport.
