The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra honor one of the greatest of the Great American Songbook writers, Cole Porter. A supreme tunesmith and sublime wordsmith, Porter’s saucy style and witty wordplay come to life with Broadway stars Kelli O’Hara and Jason Danieley and Robert Bernhardt, conductor. Hear America’s Orchestra celebrate the 120th Anniversary of Porter’s birth with highlights from his dynamite shows Anything Goes, Can-Can, Silk Stockings and Kiss Me Kate. Included on the program are his iconic songs “Night and Day,†“I Get A Kick Out of You,†“What Is This Thing Called Love?†“Begin the Beguine,†“It’s De-Lovely†plus much more.
Kelli O’Hara most recently starred as Nellie Forbush in the Tony Award-winning revival of South Pacific at Lincoln Center, and audiences will also remember her critically acclaimed performances in Sweet Smell of Success opposite John Lithgow and The Light in the Piazza opposite Matthew Morrison. She recently released her solo debut CD called Wonder in the World.
Jason Danieley is currently starring on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning show Next to Normal, but is probably most recognized for his portrayal of Lt. Joe Cable in the Emmy Award-nominated airing of PBS Great Performances’ South Pacific at Carnegie Hall. He recently released his self-titled debut CD called Jason Danieley and the Frontier Heroes.
Picnic-style meals in soft coolers are welcome at this orchestral performances. You may bring food and beverages (no bottles, cans, alcohol, please), coolers, and blankets onto the lawn area prior to the show. Come enjoy an evening under the stars!
GOOD LUCK!
