Serendipity Cafe Closing For Good
The BOCES-run Serendipity Cafe located on 42 Main Street in Liberty will close for good. Concerned residents tried to save the beloved cafe, but to no avail. The cafe was an educational program to prepare students for careers in the food service industry.
Exclusive Cutz Opens June 1st
Exclusive Cutz’s grand opening is June 1st, 2011. The straight razor haircut is old school and reminds me of the Italian barber shop I used to go to as a child. Most barbers these days use the electric buzzer, because it is easier, safer, and quicker. But, there is nothing like the feel of warm shaving cream and the clean crisp shave with a straight razor.
Frankel Hardware Uncovers Windows
The brown paper on the windows of Frankel Hardware was removed today to reveal a fully-stocked hardware store. Frankel Hardware was before my time in Liberty, but looks like something is up at this location. Does anybody have the scoop?
J & K North Main Street Bakery Is Open For Business
This morning I stopped into the new J & K North Main Street Bakery for a coffee. The owner and baker said he officially opened for business on Saturday, May 7th. There is a nice selection of baked goods, bagels, and rolls. I ordered two coffees, a frosted apple turnover, and a chocolate horn for $3.40. The owner heard my wife and I talking about our kids and gave us a handful of free cookie samples to try. Instead of going to Dunkin Donuts, frequent this new local bakery. The apple turnover and chocolate horn are delicious and have a homey taste no chain can recreate.
