London Awaits Comet Appearance!
Fallsburg's Celia Garcia is heading to London to represent the best of cheerleading. She was selected by the United Cheerleading Association this past summer to participate in the storied event.
Fallsburg Cheerleader Celia Garcia Chosen To Perform In New Day’s Day Parade in London, England
Fallsburg, NY, Celia Garcia from Fallsburg Jr/Sr High School_ in Fallsburg, NY, is one of more than 300 high school cheerleaders and dancers from across the U.S. who will be performing in the world famous London New Year’s Day Parade.
The individuals invited to perform in the parade qualified for the trip after being selected as an All American Cheerleader at one of the summer camps hosted by Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA). “All Americans” are selected to try out based on superior cheerleading skills.
Varsity has been hosting camps since 1974. Since then, they have been leading the way by combing high energy entertainment with traditional school leadership. Each year Varsity Brands trains over 325,000 cheerleaders at over 5,000 camp sessions.
Only the top 12% of the cheerleaders who attend Varsity summer camps earn the chance to march in the holiday spectacular. In addition to performing in the London parade, the All Americans will have the chance to tour London during their seven-day trip.
Now that cheerleading is finally classified as a sport, Celia Garcia has chosen to rev it up on the sidelines in lieu of playing soccer. She'll do cheerleading this winter and play softball in the spring..
“This is the 25th year Varsity has been able to bring talented cheerleaders to London, where they can showcase their skills to a very enthusiastic international audience; we are excited to be a part of it.” says Kiffanie Rodgers, Celia Garcia’s Cheerleading Coach. “Celia is a senior this year at Fallsburg HS and this will be her last opportunity to participate in this extraordinary international event. We are taking collections for Celia and her chaperone to attend this event.
